The Supervisory Council of the bank will be made up of Serge Umansky, Irīna Pīgozne, Sergey Medvedev, Pavel Kurosh and Thomas Neckmar. New composition of the Supervisory Council strengthens corporate governance structure and will provide important strategic guidance to the management to facilitate further development of the Bank. New Supervisory Council composition also strengthens Bank’s position in providing wealth management and private banking services for international high-net-worth individuals.
Serge Umansky, co-founder and partner at Signet Global Investors Limited, one of the international shareholders in the bank, has been elected Chairman of the Supervisory Council. Serge Umansky has amassed significant experience in management of institutional and private investors’ capital on the international market for over 20 years. Dr. Umansky’s education and scientific experience in applied mathematics and information technology have significantly contributed to the development of London and Lausanne-based Signet Group companies so as to meet the requirements of the digital age, fostering the development and introduction of innovative solutions in investment management systems in order to offer modern-day investment products to Signet Group clients.
Irīna Pīgozne, co-founder of the Bank’s shareholder Hansalink SIA, has become deputy chairwoman of Signet Bank Supervisory Council. She is a prominent philantropist and high profile executive with more than 20 years experience within financial industry. Pīgozne’s professional career in banking began at one of the first international commercial banks in Latvia, Deutsche-Lettische Bank (later AS Hansabanka), where she worked as the executive director, headed Latvia’s largest leasing company Hansa Leasing, and held a number of executive positions after joining Hansabanka (later AS Swedbank) management group, including the position of the bank’s deputy CEO. Irīna Pīgozne served in Swedbank until 2016 and among other strategic roles, she has been also a supervisory board member at Swedbank investment and pension funds, Advisor to CEO and Board Member of Swedbank.
Thomas Neckmar, who has been working on the Bank’s Supervisory Council since 2013, is continuing as an independent member. Mr. Neckmar’s experience in the financial sector of the Nordic and Baltic regions exceeds 20 years. Mr. Neckmar has served as a Chairman of the Board of Directors at Nordea Bank in Baltic countries, Russia, as well as deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors at Nordea Bank in Poland. Mr. Neckmar has been awarded with The Knights Cross of the Republic of Poland for his work within the banking sector of Poland and Terra Marina award for his contribution to the development of Estonian economy.
Supervisory Council member Sergey Medvedev represents the Bank’s shareholder SIA Fin.lv. Mr. Medvedev has gained significant asset management and banking experience while holding management positions in Parex Asset Management (currently CBL Asset Management) and Parex Bank (currently Citadele Bank).
Supervisory Council member Pavel Kurosh is another representative of Signet Global Investors Limited on the Bank’s Council. Mr. Kurosh has extensive experience in banking and leasing industries in Russia, where he spent most of his professional career.
